REACH Teacher Application Process

LEVEL ONE:
To become a REACH Teacher, applicant must:
1. Hold current Standard or Professional Certification
2. Participate in at least one formal REACH training session
3. Submit application to become a REACH Teacher to Union Inclusion Commission representative
4. Use the strategies for at least one full year
5. Be mentored by a trainer
6. Submit a portfolio which includes
a. Documentation of at least four hours of professional growth activities related to inclusion. This could include reading books, visiting inclusive classrooms, watching videos, or attending seminars. Refer to the Resource section of REACH Manual.
b. Completed self-evaluation providing examples of how each performance indicator is met.
c. One or more MAPS.
d. Two recommendations
1. From trainer/coach
2. From supervisor (principal/superintendent, etc.)
e. Other optional artifacts (videos, photos, etc.)
LEVEL TWO:
To become a Union Inclusion Specialist, applicant must:

Complete all of the requirements of Level One. |

2. |
|
Participate in ongoing training/professional growth in inclusion. |
|
3. |
|
Assist with training and be recommended by a Union Inclusion Specialist to lead out in future training. |
|
4. |
|
Submit unedited video documentation of classroom instruction providing evidence of inclusive practices. |
|
5. |
|
Serve as a coach for Level One applicants. |
