Adventist Students Receive Awards for Exemplary Service and Witnessing

Each year the North American Division Office of Education awards one student in each accredited Seventh-day Adventist academy with the Caring Heart Award. This award is presented to the junior or senior student who most exemplifies a strong witnessing and service orientation. Larry Blackmer, Vice President for Education says, "The Seventh-day Adventist church and its educational system believe that teaching young people to be actively involved in witnessing and service activities is central to the educational goals of the school and to the mission of the church. For this reason, the 'Caring Heart Award' for Christian service has been established to give recognition to those secondary students who have demonstrated a personal commitment to active participatory service and witnessing activities and programs." Funded by a private philanthropic foundation the award provides a $500 scholorship for mission service or tuition assistance. An engraved Bible is also presented to the receicptent.
