Summary of Position: WAU is seeking an energetic professional with solid fundraising experience as Vice President of Development and University Relations. The successful candidate will be committed to a progressive and integrated fundraising program that will cultivate champions and inspire the philanthropic potential of students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, Board members, corporations, foundations and other friends. Reporting to the President, the Vice President serves as a key leadership team member and active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the University. In partnership with the President and the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees, this position serves as the chief fundraising officer and is responsible for all university relations activities (internal and external. Minimum Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree in a related field Seven to ten years of successful and diverse fundraising experience, preferably in a college or university setting, in progressively complex roles directing nonprofit or higher education fundraising program. Major gifts solicitation experience. Prior experience managing a development office within a university setting preferred. Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and standards for the management and disclosure of public information. Knowledge of and experience in economic development and business analysis techniques. Knowledge of journalism, public relations and general communications principles and practices. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software, or other donor management software, preferred. Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management. A proven record of people and project management with strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
